Ship noise and right whales

Here’s a link to a video in which Cornell University professor Chris Clark dicusses how noise from ships disturbs the social and mating activities of right whales. Unlike humpbacks and blue whales, the vocalizations of right whales only travel about 10 miles through the water and the prop and machinery noise from ships can render the whales unable to communicate. Sobering stuff on how our activities affect the marine environment.
