Cruisers have Cuba on their mindsOct 23, 2015
The Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA) will hold its biggest gathering, they're called "gams" after the gatherings of sailors in the age of sail, in Melbourne Florida on Nov. 13 to 15. And a major topic of the seminars, which are open to members and non-members, will be cruising in newly available (for U.S. sailors anyway) Cuban waters. The seminars will feature special talks from Nigel Calder and Peter Swanson along with presentations from Chris Parker, Lee Chesneau, Pam Wall, Bob Williams, Dennis Emory, Dave Skolnick, Dave McCampbell and Kathy Vanderburg. In addition to the latest information on cruising Cuba, some of the topics at this year's gam include, weather, communications, electrical boat systems, catamarans, engine maintenance, emergency situations at sea, dealing with serious medical situations when cruising and more.
In addition, if you're a SSCA member, the group's Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. and is open to all members, both Associates and Commodores. The admission fee is $53 for SSCA members or $50 for non-members. The prices rise to $40/$55 respectively after Oct. 31. For more info go to the Melbourne Gam page.Edit Module
