Six new Globalstar satellites launched

Riding a Russian Soyuz rocket from the Bakonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, six second-generation Globalstar satellites were successfully placed in orbit today. According to Globalstar, initial tests show the units are operating properly.  This launch of new spacecraft should help Globalstar with problems in coverage the satellite telephone service has experinced as some first generation satellites failed in recent years.
