Fossett breaks trans-Atlantic record

Apparently tired of falling to earth in repeated attempts to be the first to circumnavigate solo in a balloon, billionaire adventurer Steve Fossett succeeded in setting a record for the fastest west to east crossing of the Atlantic. Aboard his 125-foot cat PlayStation, Fossett and crew broke the 11-year-old record, set by the cat Jet Services V, achieving a new record time of 4 days, 17 hours, 28 minutes and 6 seconds for the 2,925-nm distance from New York to England. In the process, PlayStation also set a new record for the fastest 24-hour run, covering 687.17 nm for an average of 28.63 knots.
