Camden, Maine: The Camden Classics Cup (CCC) is on the calendars of classic, vintage, and Spirit of Tradition boat owners looking for the best sailing in New England. Now in its second year, the event opens the classic yacht racing season in Maine and serves as the introduction to Camden Classics Week.
The CCC regatta is scheduled July 27-29 (the weekend prior to the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta) and presented by Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding in conjunction with the Camden Yacht Club. Sponsorships received to date from key Maine businesses include Stephens Waring Yacht Design, Allen Insurance & Financial, Awlgrip, The Camden Herald, Browne Trading Company, Teakdecking Systems and Epifanes make the event a successful fundraiser for LifeFlight of Maine.

In its first year, CCC met its promise and goal by drawing a superb classic fleet to the waters of Penobscot Bay and into Camden Harbor. This year the Camden Classics Cup is proud to announce that they have joined Sailors for the Sea Clean Regatta Program at the Silver Level. Clean Regattas is a certification system that enables sailors to protect their local waters with 25 Best Practices that make sustainability approachable and easy. Click here to see what we are doing.

Regatta highlights and public events include harborside viewing of the Maine Maritime Museum Parade of Sail on Saturday, July 29th at 10am. The CCC fleet will dress ship and parade through Camden Harbor. Last year’s showing was quite an elegant spectacle.

The event format includes two days of CRF, Spirit of Tradition and PHRF racing followed appropriately with post-race celebrations.  Post-race festivities peak Saturday night with a dance party at the Camden Yacht Club. The Jason Spooner Band headlines the evening. Partygoers will enjoy farm-and-boat-to-table fare by French & Brawn– roasted pork, a sushi and raw bar, fresh salads and slaws. What’s a party in Maine without Whoopie and Blueberry pies. Oh yes, it’s on the menu!

Serious hardware and silverware will be presented Saturday night. Drew Lyman, president of Lyman-Morse will present The Cup of Tiffany sterling silver to the overall winner of the Vintage and Classic Classes. AGA Correa & Sons and Sea Bags are supplying other class awards.
