HARKEN NAMED AN OFFICIAL SUPPLIER TO NEW YORK YACHT CLUB'S EXCITING NEW IC37 ONE-DESIGN CLASSAug 22, 2017
Harken will supply winches, blocks, deck hardware, traveler, and Battcar systems to the new class. Production on the IC37 is already underway at Westerly Marine of Santa Ana, California. The boats are designed by Mills Design with support from KND-Sailing Performance and SDK Structures. A fleet of twenty 37-footers, all owned and maintained by the New York Yacht Club, will be available for the 2019 Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup. Sails are to be designed and built by North Sails. Spars will be supplied by Southern Spars. Melges Performance Sailboats will market the design to owners outside the New York Yacht Club and assumes responsibility for event management.
Jim Andersen, Harken's US Sales Manager said, "Harken is very pleased to have the opportunity to continue with the New York Yacht Club in the development of the ninth club one-design, a legacy that dates back to the Herreshoff designed-and-built New York 30 in 1905."
This design will benefit from the build group's well-established relationship with Mills Design, drawing from all past experiences to realize the competitive desires of the club. The boat will provide great racing for the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup and in time, become a very popular International Class.
Bill Goggins, Managing Director Harken USA said, "We're proud to have been selected by The New York Yacht Club as part of the build consortium for the IC37. When we're in collaboration with North, Southern, Melges and Westerly to bring this Mills design to life, you can be sure this project is AT THE FRONT of sailing-where Harken must be."Edit Module
