Raymarine's Quantum Wireless CHIRP Radar

Jan 13, 2016

FLIR Systems, Inc. announces the Raymarine Quantum CHIRP radar, the industry’s first recreational marine radar dome featuring CHIRP pulse compression technology. A new approach to marine radar, Quantum CHIRP radar sets a new standard for compact solid state radar, delivering superior radar imaging on both long and short ranges.

Quantum’s CHIRP Pulse Compression technology uses multiple compressed, radar pulses with FLIR’s exclusive ATX™ advanced target separation technology to display targets like boats, landmarks, rocks, buoys, and weather cells with unsurpassed resolution and separation quality versus traditional magnetron radars. In tight quarters Quantum’s CHIRP technology allows identification of targets as close as 18 feet and offshore Quantum delivers exceptional long range imagery and accurate target returns. Quantum’s on-board processing also automatically eliminates rain and sea clutter, blocks interference from other radars, and ensures a noise-free, easy to interpret image in congested waterways.

Quantum’s lightweight design and Wi-Fi connectivity make it easy to install and simple to operate. At only 12 lbs. (5.4 kg), Quantum weighs 50 percent less than traditional magnetron radars. Quantum also breaks new ground with Wi-Fi networking to Raymarine MFDs, making installation much easier and eliminating the need for additional radar cabling or interface boxes. For sailing vessels, Quantum’s solid state design and highly efficient electronics significantly reduce power consumption extending vessel battery life.

“We are thrilled to bring our new solid state CHIRP radar technology to the recreational boating market” said Grégoire Outters, Vice President and General Manager of FLIR’s Maritime segment. “This breakthrough technology coupled with our ATX advanced target separation technology will change the game in terms of performance, ease of use and connectivity.”

Quantum CHIRP Radar will be available worldwide in the first quarter of 2016 through Raymarine’s authorized network of dealers and retailers starting at $1,599.99. For more details about the Quantum CHIRP Radar, visit: www.raymarine.com/Quantum.
