Multislip dock vs moorings

Waterlilly

In areas with fragile sea bottom ecology, such as coral, mulitple mooring anchors or the anchors of visiting cruising boats can cause serious damage. Now a French company called ACRI-IN, based in Sophia-Antipolis in the south of France, has announced a prototype docking system that clusters multiple boats onto one starfish-shaped dock that is moored on a single mooring. The system is called the Waterlilly. Looks like a good solution to the problem, but better hope everyone on the Waterlilly agrees on things like times for running generators and when to pull the plug on loud dock parties!
