In what might be a further twist to the mystery of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370, a British voyaging sailor has posted on her blog that she may have seen the plane on fire and trailing smoke while on night watch in the cockpit as she and her husband were crossing the Indian Ocean from Cochin, India to Phuket, Thailand. Katherine Tee, a former schoolteacher from Liverpool in the U.K., was with her husband Marc Horn aboard their 40-foot sloop Aaza Dana while closing the Thai coast on the night of March 7/8. Tee writes in her blog that she saw "…a burning plane cross behind our stern from port to starboard; which would have been approximately North to South. It was about half the height of other flights which I had been gazing at during that part of the passage."

Tee, who claims on her blog that she was stressed due to weather and sea conditions she had experienced on the passage and due to marital discord, wasn't confident in what she saw, "I questioned my mind. I was looking at what appeared to be an elongated plane glowing bright orange, with a trail of black smoke behind it. It did occur to me it might be a meteorite. But I thought it was more likely I was going insane." Tee's husband Marc was asleep below at the time Tee claimed to have seen the burning plane.

After landfall in Thailand, Tee heard about the missing plane, but didn't put any credence in what she had seen. She recently decided she would investigate the incident and "…looked back through our GPS log" She discovered that whatever she saw in the sky occured on the same night MH370 was still in the air and in the vicinity of the jet's suspected flight path. Tee has reportedly notified the "relevant authority" of her sighting.  Below, the sloop Aaza Dana at anchor.
