Dutch tall ship for Omani Navy

Tall ships that harken back to the Age of Sail never seem to go out of style as training ships. The Royal Omani Navy commissioned the Dutch ship design firm of Dykstra Naval Architects in Amsterdam to design an 86-meter (282-foot) full-rigged ship for use as a training vessel. The Dutch shipyard Damen has already laid down the keel and the vessel is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2014. Don't know how the ship will perform, but one thing naval architects have gotten very good at is producing digital renditions of their as-yet nonexistant vessels sailing on the blue ocean. If you look closely, however, you'll see that there are no crewmembers on deck. Guess hulls and masts and sails are still easier to draw in advanced rendering software than people!
