Restored Fife classic relaunched

Kentra

Kentra, William Fife’s classic 84-footer was first launched on June 24, 1923, at Fife’s yard in Fairlie, Scotland. This past summer, 90 years later, a painstakingly restored Kentra sails once again thanks to the dedication of Managing Director Duncan Walker of Fairlie Yachts and his skilled shipwrights.

Walker became involved with Kentra in 1987 while it was awaiting a buyer. Six years later, the yard began an extensive restoration, but the boat was to lay in the shed for another 18 years.

Kentra was relaunched at this year’s fourth Fife Regatta and spent the summer cruising the coast of Scotland. A more ambitious cruising schedule is planned for 2014.
