The Southern California Yachting Association will hold its 27th Annual Women’s Sailing Convention on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016. The daylong series of shore- and boat-based workshops is open only to women and is for sailors whose experience levels range from beginner to expert.

Sponsored by the Boat Owners Association of the United States (BoatUS) since its inception, the event will be held at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club, in Corona del Mar, Calif. The 2016 speaker will be Margaret Bonds Podlich, President of BoatUS.

Convention attendees can select a combination of workshops in areas that best fit their interest and ability.

For beginners, seminars include Welcome Aboard, Introduction To Sailing, Basic Navigation and Weather. Sailors who want to sharpen their on-water skills might be interested in Nighttime Sailing & Navigation, Offshore Cruising, Suddenly Singlehanded Interactive, Docking and Sail Trim. Finally, those who want to become more hands-on might be interested in Diesels, Going Up the Mast, Maintenance Mania, DIY Canvas Projects, Hassel-Free Heads and Spinnaker Rigging. All 30 workshops are presented by top women sailors from southern California, many of who are USCG licensed captains.
