The Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance, the new joint venture company owned by Covey Island Boatworks, Snyder’s Shipyard and Lunenburg Foundry, is nearing completion of their restoration/rebuild of the iconic Bluenose II, Canada’s maritime ambassador. The work has been underway for the last 24 months.
This alliance of shipbuilders and engineers was created to focus on large projects such as Bluenose II and to help establish Lunenburg and its craftsmen as a service provider for the maintenance and repair of large historic sailing vessels.

Now painted, work continues on the interior of Bluenose II. Systems are being installed in the engine room and accommodation space and the deck is being caulked. Once the scaffolding was removed, the great schooner’s lines were again clearly visible.
In August the schooner was moved to the yard’s marine railway where work will continue in anticipation of her completion and relaunch in late September 2012.
