The delivery of a brand-new boat to home waters can be a thrilling adventure — the kick of the feather-light wheel in a fresh breeze, the smell and luxurious warmth of brand-new new joinery, the growl of the well-tuned diesel making turns for cruising speed, and of course the power and efficiency of the new suit of sails. The Larsson family took delivery of their new Hallberg-Rassy 46, Tusen Takk (“One thousand thanks” in Swedish) from the yard in Ellös, Sweden, this past summer, and spent the ensuing months cruising northern Europe, voyaging down the west coast from England to Spain and Portugal, and will soon be crossing the Atlantic with the annual Atlantic Rally for Cruisers. They expect to bring the vessel north to New England in the spring of ’04.
