Quick turnaround for BOR record smasher

The Bermuda Ocean Race entrant Beau Geste set a new course record of 66 hours, 22 minutes, 41 seconds when the racer finished this morning in Bermuda. Beau Geste, averaging 12 knots, shattered the old record of 85 hours 18  minutes 57 second set by Raider in 2008.

Unfortunately, Karl  Kwok and his 14-man crew couldn’t tarry in Bermuda as they had to get to Newport for the start of the Newport-Bermuda Race on Friday, June 18. Kwok and crew have hopes of setting the course record in that race, too. Reflecting the quick turnaround, when the crew ordered food in Bermuda it was 20 pizzas “to go.”
