LifeFlight of Maine named as beneficiary of the Fourth Annual Penobscot Bay Rendezvous

Mark Your Calendar: August 14-17, 2014

Camden, Maine: The organizers of the Penobscot Bay Rendezvous are pleased to name LifeFlight of Maine the beneficiary of this year’s annual sail and power regatta. PBR, now in its fourth year, has been building participation and working with local partners and sponsors to grow the event to a point where monies could be donated to a local charity.

“It is a genuine honor for LifeFlight to have been selected to be the first beneficiary of what Yachting Magazine recognizes as one of the best regatta events on the East Coast,” said Thomas P. Judge, Executive Director of LifeFlight of Maine. “We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to partner with Wayfarer Marine and Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding and the entire boating community gathered for this event.”

“LifeFlight is a natural fit for boaters. Accidents or sudden illnesses on the water are rare but when they occur we are often in a remote place. Like fire trucks and police cars, you would rather not see these guys but if you need them, you are really glad they are there for you. This service is essential,” said Cabot Lyman, owner of Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding. “We could not be more pleased to support this service for all Mainers.”

For the last 15 years, LifeFlight of Maine has given the care needed to bridge the gap from an accident scene or hospital to specialized treatment facilities. Each year they provide advanced treatment and rapid transport both in the air and on the ground for more than 1,500 critical patients.

“We set out three years ago to create an event that highlighted the local riches of this area,” said Shane Flynn, owner of Wayfarer Marine. “Local riches like the gorgeous yachts from Stephens Waring Yacht Design, exemplary products and customer commitment from Allen Insurance and Financial, Linda Bean’s lobster, Fiore olive oils and vinegars and bread from Atlantic Baking Company. We are pleased to feature another jewel of Maine to the showcase – LifeFlight. Adding a local beneficiary was always part of the plan. We are honored to be working with LifeFlight.” Flynn and Cabot Lyman of Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding present this annual event.

The Fourth Annual Penobscot Bay Rendezvous will be held August 14-17, 2014. This event is on the map as one of the East Coast’s best regattas for power and sail. Last year, fifty-five sail and powerboats gathered for the four-night, three-day event co-hosted by Wayfarer Marine and Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding. This event is geared to highlight the best of all that mid-coast Maine and Penobscot Bay has to offer – picturesque towns, spectacular coastline, great food and world-class hospitality and facilities. To hear what folks have to say check out Billy Black’s video on the home page – http://www.penobscotbayrendezvous.com/  Make this event a summer destination. This is a great event whether you have been cruising Penobscot Bay for years or are visiting the area during your summer voyage. Just sign up and PBR takes care of the rest for a memorable weekend!
