Northern Lights Launches New Products at Miami Boat ShowFeb 3, 2010 SEATTLE â Feb. 3, 2010 â (Marine NewsWire) Available to see for the first time at the 2010 Miami International Boat Show, Northern Lights is launching the re-designed M673-series, the highly popular 5-6kW (60Hz) generator models, along with the new WaveNet digital monitoring system for its industry-leading lineup of marine diesel generators.
Following in the tradition of the newly-designed 38kW M944T in 2009, the M673LD3 and M673L3 are diesel dynamos, featuring a new base frame and sound enclosure design sure to please boat builders and re-fit customers alike. The new design has accomplished an amazing engineering feat: a 20 percent reduction in overall volume from the existing models when equipped with sound enclosures.
The WaveNet monitoring system is a significant step forward for the range of Northern Lights panel options. This system gives the user a digital window into the operation and output of the generator, including important metrics such as the percentage of available electrical load being used at any given time and data logging of events. Northern Lights' membership in the National Marine Electronic Association (NMEA) is pending, with the stated goal of achieving full NMEA 2000 certification with the WaveNet system, giving it the ability to output to any number of NMEA 2000-compatible displays.
"The overall size of smaller diesel generators and integration with vessel monitoring systems are two increasingly important issues with builders and boaters today," said Northern Lights sales and marketing manager, Colin Puckett. "To still be able to offer the same trusted Northern Lights package in a reduced volume is really exciting and we are looking forward to carrying this re-designed frame and sound enclosure package throughout the rest of our lineup. We've also listened closely to our customers who have been asking for a digital monitoring solution for their Northern Lights sets. The fact that this system is available for retro-fit applications is great news for existing customers as well."
The new M673-series and the WaveNet system will both be on display at the Miami International Boat Show, Feb. 11-15 in Northern Lights' booth P100 in the Miami Beach Convention Center along with the Northern Lights Virtual Engine Room.
