Nordic Tug 26 returns to the Seattle Boat ShowJan 27, 2009 Burlington, Wash. (Jan. 24, 2009) â Nordic Tugs® announces the return of the classic Nordic Tug 26 â the boat that captured the hearts of American boaters nearly 30 years ago. The special edition 26 will make its debut at the Seattle Boat Show, Jan. 23 â Feb. 1, 2009, Quest Field West Hall 5.
With an overall length of 26'4", 9'6" beam and 39" draft, the 2009 Nordic Tug 26 offers the consumer a pocket-trawler with classic Nordic Tugs styling, manufactured using today's materials and technology and built to current Nordic Tugs standards, with an eye on quality, serviceability and durability that all Nordics are known for. Just like its larger siblings, the Nordic Tug 26 features a solid fiberglass hull, with full-length keel and stainless-steel shoe and rudder.
Powered by a 110-hp Volvo D-3 diesel engine with electronic-controlled high pressure common rail fuel system, the Nordic Tug 26 today is as fuel efficient as its predecessor. With a 110 hp Volvo D-3 diesel engine with electronic- controlled high pressure common rail fuel system, take a leisurely cruise and burn a meager 1.1 gph at 6.8 knots and 2.1 gph at 8 knots, or for quick weekend getaways, take her up to top speeds of 13.5 knots.
With room to sleep 4, including a forward stateroom with a wet head plus a convertible salon settee, the Nordic Tug 26 is a great choice for couples and small families.
The Nordic Tug 26 first debuted in 1980 at the Seattle Boat Show to rave reviews for its visual appeal, quality and fuel economy. Nordic Tugs stopped production of the 26 in 1997, and the ever-popular tug still has a near cult following today.
"The Nordic Tug 26 is as popular today as it was in the 80s. We consistently received inquiries about whether we would consider building the boat again, and with the current state of the economy, we've seen a shift in consumer interest from our larger to our smaller models," explained David Goehring, president of Nordic Tugs.
In 2007, Nordic Tugs began exporting their boats into the European market, and has since expanded worldwide. The company feels the 26 could prove to be a popular model overseas.
Goehring explained, "The Nordic Tug 26 is the ideal size to navigate the shallow canals and low bridge clearances in Europe. All things considered, we felt the timing was right to bring back the 26."
