Tall ships set sail with Canada Post

Canada Post’s new stamps commemorating this summer’s tall ship festivities at Halifax may make Canadians wish for bygone days when packet ships carried the mails from Boston to Halifax in just two days, rather than the eight to ten days it now takes.

Represented on the colorful, panoramic double stamps are schooners, barques, and brigantines moving up Halifax harbor in tight formation with all sail set, despite the lack of even a moderate breeze to fill their canvas. But, what the heck-they are pretty!

Ocean navigators with a philatelic bent can order these stamp sets from the National Philatelic Centre, 75 St. Ninian St., Antigonish, Nova Scotia B2G 2R8, Canada. Or, if the mails are just too slow for you, call 1-800-565-4362.
