Recall announced for MOB gear

Jan 1, 2003

Lifesling company officials have issued a recall on their man-overboard recovery device. If the Lifesling was purchased in 1992 or 1993, it may have a defective D-ring, one that is not made of stainless steel. The company recommends checking to see if the D-rings are stainless steel by holding the ring to a magnet and by inspecting for corrosion.

"The plain steel D-rings rust quickly and are strongly magnetic. If the rings cling to a magnet or are showing signs of serious rust, the Lifesling is defective," stated a company release.

Defective rings with the webbing attached should be returned to Port Supply Co., attention Howard Wright, 500 Westridge Dr., Watsonville, Calif. 95076. A new Lifesling will be sent immediately, according to company officials. Contact Howard Wright with questions at 408-728-4417.
