Inflatable PFDs recalled

The Fruitland, Idaho-based manufacturer of SOSpenders inflatable PFDs announced a recall of several of their products. An in-house testing procedure found that the self-inflation device was defective. No one has reported any injuries caused by the defect. Approximately 300 defective Hammar units in one lot of 500 were loaded incorrectly and will not inflate the vest. Units bought between March 5, 2002, and Aug. 15, 2002, are being recalled.
