On Friday, October 4, hundreds of sailors and supporters from New York City’s media, finance, education, maritime and business communities will join New York Harbor Foundation for the third annual New York Harbor Regatta at Governors Island. New York City’s premier charity regatta features an afternoon of sailing in New York Harbor against the backdrop of the Statue of Liberty, with hundreds of sailors competing in historic America’s Cup 12 Metres and Manhattan Sailing Club J/24s. Corporate teams will join passionate sailors, Harbor School students, New York City notables and supporters like former pro Olympic sailor, Hannah Swett while fans take in the action from the luxury spectator boat, enjoying an afternoon of cocktails, light bites and entertaining race commentary by NBC’s Willie Geist. Directly following the racing, sailors, spectators and supporters will head to Governors Island for the Regatta Bash on the beach – the perfect way to capture the last bit of summer and support the programs of New York City’s only public high school dedicated to maritime and environmental education. Sailors and spectators leave the docks at 1:00 p.m. for the 2:00 p.m. Regatta start with Regatta Bash to follow on Governors Island from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Tickets from $75; sailing sponsorships from $1,500. nyharborregatta.com <http://nyharborregatta.com>
