Buzzards Bay Regatta

Event Date/Time

Aug 1, 2014 to Aug 3, 2014

BBR is the largest multi-class regatta in the United States with over 450 boats and 1200 sailors across fifteen different classes. 30 volunteer committee chairs meet throughout the year to plan the three-day event and are joined by over 200 volunteers during regatta weekend.

Before you know it you’ll be experiencing Buzzards Bay’s exceptional sailing conditions and famous Southwest breeze, not to mention the spirited competition. Our committee has been working very hard over the winter to get the details in place for another fantastic event; with a few twists this year. As always, our top priority is making sure that we have excellent race management so, of course, we have put together a great team of experienced Race Officers. Logistics are also so important and we promise that parking, transportation, launching and hauling, etc. will run smoothly albeit a bit differently so be sure to check back here for all of the details and updates. And what would BBR be without the onshore merriment? We certainly haven’t forgotten about the parties! We will have great bands post racing on both Friday and Saturday including the return of the ever popular Dale and the Duds.

What’s new this year? The 420s will be based out of the Community Boating Center on Padanaram Ave in New Bedford (not Fort Taber) AND they will be joined by the I-420s. The Lasers, Laser Radials, and V15s will be launching off of Silvershell Beach in Marion where there is ample space and parking. As the V15 has become the international standard for team racing, the fleet will be introducing this format at BBR 2014.
